Ocean Class
Ocean Class is the home of pupils in Year 5 and 6; also based in our main building, the classroom is big and light. It is well-equipped with a class library, reference books and other resources to support learning. There is a specially designed maths exploration area and ‘achievement archive’ where pupils choose work to display which they are really proud of.
Design & Technology - Designing a healthy, balanced and fun breakfast
Ocean Class children were so excited and grateful to have received new books, very kindly funded by FOSRS. They spent some time going through them, and choosing a new book.

Santa Claus is coming to town!
During their art lessons, Ocean Class have been learning about photo art. They created their own pieces, using different filters, shades, light, shadow and other art mediums.
The children in Ocean Class took part in a live STEM event where they got to help engineer Matt and his robot Neo build a factory of the future. The show was wonderfully interactive and the children got to vote for how they'd build their factory in order to achieve net zero.
Design and technology: Ocean Class spent a couple of days learning about package designs and how to create and design a box for a particular purpose, functionality and group. They made a cuboid net for a box of biscuits, and got to test it out with a biscuit treat at the end.
Ocean Class are working hard this term and have been enjoying learning about our various curriculum areas.
On the 9th and 10th of November, we will be having our Design & Technology days, where the children will be exploring packaging and creating their own packaging for biscuits.
In Science, we are learning all about electricity and creating circuits.
Magnificent Mountains is our topic for Geography and in PSHCE they are learning about the importance of healthy relationships.
Our class reader this term is Journey to the River Sea by Eva Ibbotson, and our text for our written tasks is The Lost Book of Adventure by the Unknown Adventurer.
The children are also thoroughly enjoying playing football and dodgeball in their PE sessions, and learning to play the recorder and speak Spanish.
