Year 6

Whilst SATs will not be going ahead this year, it would still be good for year 6 to complete practice papers as if they were preparing for the tests. This will ensure they continue to revise skills taught in KS2 and will be prepared for secondary school.

Ocean Class Term 5:

Following the interests of Ocean Class we will be returning to the topic of WW II.

Project ideas include:

  • Researching rationing, evacuees, inspiring war time people
  • Plan cook and cost a war time meal
  • Make Do and Mend- Link to textiles and create a new garment or quilt from recycled material.
  • Grow your own vegetables

Big Write:

Please follow our usual lesson cycle format (above) over a two week period and work through the following activities in order.

  • Write about your experiences as an evacuee
  • Write a newspaper report about a significant event in the war
  • Write a letter home to your parents as an evacuee
  • Write a biography about an inspiring person during the war.

RE: Our topic is ‘Are you Inspired.’ As such, we would like you to research the life and works of John Sentamu, Desmond, Tutu, Frances Domenica and Mother Teresa.

You could do an extended project on a comparison between Blackpool and Birmingham. You could also learn the counties, mountains and rivers of the United Kingdom. If you missed the Taste and Trace- Counties and Produce session you could catch up on this.

Remember to get plenty of exercise. Here are some ideas you can do at home, but get plenty of fresh air too.
