Class Structure

The children at Stoke Row are grouped into three separate classes. Raindrop class is for pupils in Reception, year 1 and year 2. River class is for year 3 and year 4 pupils and Ocean class is for year 5 and year 6 pupils. The maximum intake in our reception year is 15. Our class names were chosen by our pupils and are all linked to water which used to be only accessible in Stoke Row via our well!
The attainment and progress of each pupil is tracked carefully and individual pupil targets, designed to ensure good progress, are agreed at the beginning of each new term. Teachers plan each lesson carefully to ensure that each pupil makes progress towards his or her target during the lesson.
The school has a number of experienced teaching assistants who support groups and individuals in literacy and mathematics lessons.
The mixed year group classes enable the teachers to get to know the children and their individual needs extremely well. The class structure also promotes friendships between pupils across different year groups which enhance the family atmosphere in the school.
In the summer term all the children moving class have taster sessions in their new classes to ensure that they are prepared for the change in September and they quickly settle into their new routines.
