HEAD FOR A DAY

9.45: I have really enjoyed being head for a day so far because, I have met the parents as they came into school and I have been to assembly, doing a head teachers role!!

I'm really looking forward to teaching Yellow Class this afternoon; it's going to be lots of fun!

I have also had to make the choice for who is going to get the new Portable PA system! It was a very hard choice, but eventually I chose Mrs Bowes because she loves her music.

I'm also looking forwards to going down to the Crooked Billet to get the school dinners and meeting Remy the chef.

It has been fun having such a major part in the school, even if it is only one day! At first I felt a tiny bit nervous, and butterflies in my stomach, but now I am not nervous because I have settled in to being head teacher for the day.

It feels great because it's my last year at Stoke Row and you definitely don't do this kind of thing at secondary school, I was so happy when I heard my name being called out for first place and when a few girls in my class were so happy for me that they leapt of their seats!!!!!

11.00: I was so excited the night before that I couldn't sleep not only was it that but it was also so hot!

I've also sorted out the schools budget, spent time in the Staff Room and been outside for my break.

Once I have collected the school dinners I will go and help them with any emergencies the dinner ladies have.

11.50: After that I get to look after Yellow class for the afternoon, the Yr6's (including me!) have been making some story books for the children in Yellow Class, first the others will come in and read and then when they have gone we will be doing a colouring/drawing task and a chance to tell the class their memories. So far it's been great because I have had so much fun!!!!!!!

3.30: Since I last wrote in the article I have, gone to the Crooked Billet to collect the food, spoke to Remy at the Crooked Billet, had lunch and then finally the time came to teach Yellow Class, it was so much fun, first I did the register and then I explained to them what I was doing throughout the afternoon when I was teaching them! The first thing I did in the afternoon was get the other Yr 6's in to read their books to the whole class. Then I gave the children two colouring and learning tasks to do, they did one called I Spy and another one called Simple Similes; they all really enjoyed them!!! After that we did a game with Barnaby Bear, where I would tell them my memories of Stoke Row and then they would tell me theirs.

After a while I thought that it must be getting a bit tiresome by now, so Mr McTegart told them a story about Black Jake, but he did it in a pantomime kind of way, so they enjoyed it very much! Then I told them the story I had written for Bonny; they really liked the illustrations! After that I got them to do a special writing task, where they draw a picture of the heroine of the story or Black Jake and write a sentence or two at the bottom of the page. Before we finished off, I got them all to get their stuff ready for home time and then we played a super quick game of Simon Says! Once we finished that it was time for them to go home, but I would come back up here and finish my article.
