I can't thank you enough for your patience and time with the children, they thoroughly enjoyed the experience and said that it was the best trip that they had ever been on! I was pleasantly surprised at how many of the children tried something that they had never had before. It was a fantastic opportunity for the children to see the practical application of topics that we talk about at school. The visit has supported a number of curriculum subjects such as Science, Design and Technology, Literacy and Numeracy. There has been an array of follow on activities carried out after the trip which made the topics come to life and far more realistic for the children to engage in.

Here are Green Class visiting the Oxford Jewish Congregation Synagogue. We had a talk from one of the education volunteers about what goes on in their synagogue and some of the festivals they celebrate. The children were given the opportunity to look at some of the items used during Shabbat and wore the Kippah Iskull (the cap worn on the back of the head) and the Tallit (a prayer shawl). The children also looked inside the ark and use a yad (pointer) to read some of the hebrew from the Torah.

It was a fascinating trip and the children thoroughly enjoyed it!

On 23rd February Green Class visited Reading Museum to look at a the splendid Roman section to gain a hands-on insight to enhance their Roman History lessons.

It was an excellent trip as the children had the opportunity to experience a Roman kitchen, the Forum Basilica where they could write their names in Latin and tessellate mosaics.

The pupils looked at the Roman Baths and tried on different clothes belonging to different characters and had to discover who their character was by identifying artefacts and matching clues.

The children also studied a model of Silchester Town and then identified different building materials, matching them to where they were used within the town. They realised how important the Tiler was in town life. The pupils then had to label various parts of the town and match labels to the buildings on the model.

The next trip we have planned is for RE and we are visiting the Oxford Jewish Synagogue!

Below are an assortment of pictures of Green Class taking part in many different events from a walk around Stoke Row village to Art Classes, making Mosaics in DT and various class displays...
