Headteacher For A Day by Beth Crane!

When I was elected to take over Mr Mc Tegart's job for the whole day, I was shocked. My friend, had bribed the school with chocolate cake! I had said that I thought it was cheating, though Mr Mc Tegart said he didn't say you weren't allowed. Lots of people agreed with me, that I thought it a bit unfair, so they voted for me! All the candidates got votes in double figures!

I had lots to do including: teaching Red class for a morning, doing assembly, marking work, doing admin work, and leading a staff meeting!

My day:
I came in to school at 8.15 am, wearing a smart top and black trousers, I had to prepare for the morning.

I did the register, and became Miss Crane. First it was Literacy. We did story writing. They had to write a story, and include these five words: Treasure chest, cave (or pirates), boat, pearl and ruby.

I also had year three's as the year two's were doing SATS, in all I had 32 children! It was a challenge, but I got used to it!

Next, I did assembly, I had to talk about first aid, and if it is a serious injury, then you call 999 and so on. I gave out prizes to people from Friday!

After I had a break in the staff room, I went back to do Maths. We did the circumference, radius, and diameter of a circle, and drawing things with a compass. I had a few wiggly lines from the year three's who some of them had probably never used a compass before! To make the class listen, after three, the front row and I, clapped and that worked!

At lunch time I ate my lunch in the staff room, did some marking, and wandered the playground for a few minutes.

After lunch, I did some admin work, in Mr Mc Tegart's office! I filled in forms, marked the work I had set that morning, looked at post, and with help from Mr. McTegart, I made an agenda for the staff meeting.

At about 3.30 it was the staff meeting and I was leading it! Mr Mc Tegart was taking minutes, and there was Mrs Hayward, Mrs Bowes, and Mrs Standen, listening and giving ideas. We finished the meeting at 4.25 and I took more marking home with me!

The day was a great experience and I really enjoyed it! But, I have to say teachers drink so much tea, I had about three or four cups! Thanks to everyone for being so nice!
