Welcome to Red Class!
(07-08)

We are Red Class, the wisest and most beautiful class in the school. Apart from these superficial qualities we are also a very hard working. In fact we spend the whole day in lessons filling our enormous brains with new knowledge. We are in Years 5 and 6 (aged 9 to 11) and our teacher is Mr Justin Gomersall, he is helped by Pam Cooper. Our time table is pretty rigid and can be found below.

Finishing off, Art and DT Golden Time *

* Golden time is a maximum of 30 minutes. It is an opportunity for the children to engage in pupil based learning
and catch up with other work that they may have enjoyed but not had a chance to finish.

In Red Class we focus on extended writing compiling reference books, stories, poems, explanatory texts and news articles. Examples of some of these things will be able to be found if you follow the links. We also complete some very hard maths doing such things as long multiplication, shape and space, algebra (often to GCSE standard) and data handling.

Red Class partake in a biannual trip to Woodlands outdoor education centre in Wales. This is usually the highlight of the year and children continue to rave about their experience years after. This trip involves many outdoor pursuits that children would not usually be able to take part in, including, rock climbing, abseiling, canoeing, gorge walking and many more. The trip helps unconfident children to build self esteem, children with poor social skills to build friendships and confident children to push themselves to their limits.

We held a Science Fair in the Village Hall on 29th January 2008 where we all demonstrated the experiments that we had devised.

In Red Class we have been working on Inverse Operations. To find out more and do some examples have a look at the presentations some of the class have done. Each presentation was created using MS PowerPoint and is best viwed as a slide show. When the first slide is displayed click on 'Slide Show', at the bottom right of the browser window. Continue clicking the left mouse button to step through the presentation. (Depending on your browser settings, you may be prompted to allow 'ActiveX components' or 'blocked content' to run.)

There are lots of wonderful things happening throughout the year in Red Class so please keep an eye on our page for regular updates of our activities.
